Do you need a website?
Before you start planning your new web site you need to ask yourself if you really need a website or do you just want one because you have been told that you have to have website these days. Below is a list of reasons why you may need a website:

  • To advertise your company, product or services and conduct on-line commerce. The Internet has become so popular during the last few years that not having a web presence is  like not being in the telephone directory.
  • To attract more business or new business. Your website can be at work selling your product or service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The web's immediacy and multimedia capabilities are unmatched by conventional advertising media. Your website may not replace your other advertisements, but it will complement them in a very powerful way when used properly.
  • To serve current customers or clients better. Technical support, product specifications, price lists, phone numbers and e-mail addresses can all be incorporated into your website. This could give your customer-service efforts a big boost and save you money.
  • Promote your ideas, hobbies, or beliefs
  • Give or sell information

How much will it cost?
How much a site costs to design depends on a number of factors:

  • number of pages on the site
  • types and number of graphic images on the site
  • amount of interactivity
  • programming
  • web copy writing
  • online marketing

Most html websites (without ecommerce, database or Flash) costs between $100-$300 per page. If you website will have more images and content, the costs will be higher. Their might also be additional charges for using stock photography, search engine optimization and special features. Before we send you a design contract, we provide you with an estimate/quote for the amount of time it usually takes to complete your specific design project. We have completed multiple design projects that fell below the estimated time. Clients only pay for the time taken to complete a design project. We offer a free consultation and quote and believe that every client has unique needs. For more information please email us.

What is a domain name and why do I need one?
A domain name is your website's unique address and is your identity on the World Wide Web. As an example, the domain name for Nagy Communication Design is susannenagy.com. The most common domain names will end in .com, .net, or .org, but there are many more to choose from. Not only does it give people a way to find your website, it should also give them an easy way to return and to tell their friends to do the same. Your domain name is also is the basic identity for your company's e-mail addresses (jane@yourcompany.com). You can register your own domain name through one of the many online services. After your registration, you will be given the full access information to a personal domain name control panel if you wish. In many cases, our clients request us to manage, update, transfer or change their registration information so they don't have to worry about learning the technical aspects of web maintenance.

What is hosting and why do I need it?
Your website needs a "home/parking place" on the Internet - a place for your domain name, web page files and graphics to reside. You usually rent web space through a hosting company. We provide reliable affordable hosting companies for businesses and offer pricing with your web proposal. Hosting fees vary greatly depending on your needs. Your hosting package will need special features if you plan to have a storefront on your Web site, if you will be connected to a database, or if you have special programming requirements. Hosting service for a regular website (no database or ecommerce) cost approximate. $60 per year.

Do I need to hire a "local" web site designer?
No you don't have to hire someone local and that is one of the many great things about the internet. The majority of our clients are not physically near-by, but today we can easily communicate with each via email, phone, or video conferencing. In the majority of cases a face-to face meeting isn't necessary and most of our websites are generally completed with contact via email and telephone.

How can I get more traffic to my Web site?
We build our websites to be "search engine friendly" and we register you site with the main search engines right after making your website live. However, client's should realize that these search engines contain millions of entries, and search engine registration alone will not necessarily bring thousands of visitors to your site overnight.

We recommend that our clients use a battery of marketing strategies to bring traffic to their site. These include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Publicize your URL (Web site address) on your business cards, fax cover sheets, company letterhead, etc.
  • Register your own domain name (e.g., yourcompany.com). It's more professional and easier to remember than a long URL that attaches your name to the name of your Internet Service Provider.
  • Advertise your Web site anywhere you can: on the radio, in print ads and on television. If these media are already in your marketing plan, it's easy to include your URL at the end of the ad. While these ads are generally limited in content, they can draw inquisitive listeners, viewers, and readers to your site for more detailed information.
  • Make sure you're registered with the major search engines and directories. If your site was developed by us within the past few months, chances are that your site already appears in these search listings. On the other hand, if it's been a while since we submitted your site, you may find that your listing has been dropped from these databases. The good news is that it's relatively easy for us to re-submit your site to these search engines.
  • Get others to link to your site. If we developed your site, you'll be linked to our site. Chambers of commerce, Internet service providers, community organizations and others may offer free or inexpensive ways to get your site linked. Also consider reciprocal links to your business associates' sites.
  • Keep your site fresh. If people return to your site for a second visit, will they see the same thing they did last time? In some cases, that may not be a big problem, but in other cases, it could spell disaster. If you feature products, real estate listings or press releases, make sure that there is something new at least once a month.
  • Make your site valuable to your visitors. Keep your nagivation simple so visitors can easily access the information they are looking for. Consider rewarding them for coming to your site with a special printable coupon, a tip of the day or information that helps them make decisions or purchases.
  • Announce your new site with a press release. Of course, it is most appropriate if your site is new.
  • Create an ad banner campaign. Nagy Communication Design can design an ad banner for this type of use and can help you to draw attention to your site by getting your ad banner to appear on other web sites both far and near.
Can I see how many visitors I've had to my website?
Yes we can add web tracking software which records where you visitors are coming from and which pages they looked at, which search engines are being used, which phrases are being typed into which search engines and many more interesting web tracking facts which you should find useful for future marketing campaigns.

Do you redesign existing websites?
Yes we absolutely do. We can redesign, retaining your company corporate style or we can redesign to give you a complete new image. It is a good idea to give your website a "facelift" or update your page contents if your business or company have grown.

Who owns the website once the website design is completed?
The website belongs to you - we send you a copy of the website on cd. This copy is for your retention and should you wish to use another web design or web hosting company - you are completely at liberty to take this copy to them for them to use.

Can you help me set up a blog?
Yes - definitely. In just a few hours we can teach you how to edit and maintain your own blog. There are many different blogs to choose from on the web and we can advice you which ones might suit your needs the best.
